Buenos Aires, Dec 4 (NA) – A large truck traveling on the Pan-American Highway overturned at kilometer 41.5, in Ingeniero Maschwitz, and has been removed, freeing up traffic. Cleanup operations are ongoing.
The vehicle was carrying edible oil, and after the rollover, it lost part of its cargo, coming to rest across both lanes. This caused a total obstruction of traffic in both directions for several hours.
According to the Argentine News Agency (Agencia Noticias Argentinas), the traffic cut was total in both directions, so vehicles were detoured via the service road to the Ramal Campana branch.
The truck driver had to be taken for medical attention to the Early Diagnosis Unit (UDP) in Garin and is out of danger, while firefighters and two cranes are working at the scene.
After the truck was towed, efforts are focused on cleaning up the cargo scattered on the asphalt.
